And that an owl can  turn its head almost 360 degrees before turning back around? Owls use this anatomical ability to keep a close eye on their surroundings when hunting, while also making use of their wingspan which enables them to fly silently at night. All of these facts were shared with our preschool friends today when the folks at Critter Creek came to visit. Along for the ride were two types of owls: a barn owl and a great horned owl who also brought with them a small friend called a kresle, which is similiar to a small falcon. The children really enjoyed meeting the three birds, particularly when they started screeching and spreading their huge wings!
